The risk of floods has dropped after a week of relatively dry weather and very little rain in the forecast, although both Lake Nipissing and the French River remain above long-term averages.
Susan Brownlee of the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority said the water level on Lake Nipissing is stable and no longer rising.
"The waterways are down significantly," Brownlee said, referring to the creeks and rivers feeding Nipissing.
Less than two weeks ago, the authority issued flood advisories and flood watches after significant rainfall hit the area last month.
Public Works Canada says precipitation recorded at the French River station for April was 187% of the monthly average.
Lake Nipissing is 32 centimetres above the long-term average at 196.08 metres and the French River flowing out of it is 86 cm above the long term average.
Public Works is advising caution on both waterways.
