Nice one. The laker I got today was 3.5 inches longer, way bigger head and the same weight. You would have beat me into the over 30” category

Thats a good looking fish....thx for sharing your adventure.....I bet you will get a derby ticket next year.

Correction you can still get a derby ticket for this year ...just not for that fish.

Another PB for you RM. You seem to break your PBs annually. Even a bit bigger than my 31.5 inch Kawartha Lakes Walleye. I wonder how big my walleye will be the next time it's caught. Maybe caught by you next time.

Thanks everyone! Appreciate the comments.

Hey Arnie,
Agree, even if I am not sure about the upcoming season because of different issues I better join than regret later. I guess too late this year. I think I also caught my best crappie of this season few weeks ago. I caught only two on that day and was sure it was 14.5", I did measure it on the ice, but when cleaning next day it was only 13.5. I guess they shrink a lot

Hey Jamie,
You seem to track my PBs better than me. I just checked my log to find the record about a trip to Simcoe few years ago and I could not. Found the post here, but there is also no length. But comparing to the whitefish it could be around 30". That laker could be a victim of a bad C&R when the top part of the tail was frozen off. It also did not have one eye -
Jackson's point

Comparing lakers with walleye is rather not fair. When I saw your post and took a tape measure to get a better idea of a 32" walter I could not imagine they could be like that. Anyways wish you beat that PB this year.

Thanks Longshank.

Agree that to have your fish got stuck in a 6" hole one needs to be very lucky. Anyways I came up with a backup plan while fighting to set the drug very light, step on the rod and make another overlapping hole praying the fish would not shake off the jig.

That is a great fish! Congrats!

I know the MNR is still stocking fish annually, but I'm not hearing about a lot a catches (small fish or large).

It would be great to see the lake trout population bounce back - they are a fun fish to catch.
